Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Bodies of a father and son were found early Saturday morning in Belur’s Thakurpara pond area on Girish Ghosh Road, causing widespread commotion. Locals, who had gone for their morning walk, first noticed Subhash Pal (75) hanging from a tree near the pond. They immediately rushed to inform his family members and found another tragedy unfolding inside the house.
On entering the house, residents found the body of Subhash Pal’s son, Ajit Pal (38), lying on the floor with a towel hanging from a ceiling fan. According to family sources, Ajit first died by wrapping a towel around his neck and hanging from the fan. After witnessing his son's death, Subhash Pal allegedly used a piece of cloth to hang himself from a tree near the pond.
Family sources informed that Ajit Pal worked in a private company. His mother had passed away about a year ago, and since then, he and his father had been living together. There were no reports of any recent disputes visible to locals, but police are investigating the possibility of family-related tensions behind the deaths.
Local residents alerted Belur Police, who arrived at the spot, recovered both bodies, and transported them to the nearby Joysawal Hospital for post-mortem examinations. The police have initiated an investigation to determine the sequence of events and the exact reasons leading to the deaths.
